F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

I offer several types of shows and services depending on your entertainment needs. Each show is designed to fit your needs and your budget. Please e-mail or call for a quote.

Are there any additional costs?

Mileage is billed for events beyond a 50-mile radius of ZIP Code 55901 (Rochester, Minnesota). Shows in excess of 3 hours one way require special travel accommodations that are outlined in the Service Agreement.

How much is mileage?

The 2014 rate is $1.25/mile – one-way. If multiple shows are booked for the same date and district, the total mileage is divided among the parties.

Are there any discounts or specials?

Our Book Early – Book Often program offers significant discounts for shows booked before December 31, 2013. You can also save money by booking multiple shows for the same date.

When is payment due?

A non-refundable retainer equal to 50% of the booking fee will reserve your date. The balance must be paid prior to Not Your Average JOE taking the stage. Client cancellations made less than 48 hours before show time require forfeiture of the remaining balance. If Not Your Average Magic is forced to cancel for any reason, the entire retainer will be refunded.

Have you ever canceled a show?

No – I’ve never cancelled, rescheduled or postponed a show.

Do you take credit cards?

Not Your Average Magic does not currently accept credit cards.

Is your partner act, the Xsighting Show, suitable for children?

The Xsighting show is total audience-participation and is suitable for all audiences. No one is ever embarrassed or made to feel self-conscious.

How much time does it take to set up and break down the show?

Provided that the electrical and staging provisions of my Service Rider are met – the show can go from arrival to performance in 30 minutes. Break down requires approximately 20 minutes.

How much room is required?

Shows require little floor space (10’ W x 10’ D x 8’ H) and I often perform “in one” directly in front of the main curtain; or on one end of a room. This is especially beneficial to schools that book multiple acts. I can perform while other acts set up behind the curtain.

Do we need to provide a stage, lights or sound?

A stage or raised area is preferred – but not required. Not Your Average Magic show carries its own wireless sound equipment and prefers to use it to guarantee the quality of the performance. In most cases, 2 120V outlets in the vicinity of the performing area are required.

Are you insured?

Yes. Not Your Average Magic Entertainment maintains comprehensive liability insurance with limits of 1M per occurrence and a 5M aggregate.

What is your service area?

Not Your Average Magic Entertainment defines its service area as the Tri-State region of Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin.
